With general direction and supervision from the Maintenance Base Manager, responsible for effectively developing and leading assigned maintenance personnel to achieve superior productivity. Responsible for proper scheduling of mechanics’ assignments and production control functions to provide reliable, airworthy aircraft in conjunction with a safe and efficient working environment.  Responsible for facility and equipment maintenance in the respective station and/or shift.  Assists in the planning and adherence of assigned budgets for the maintenance facility.

Job Functions:

  • Promotes and fosters a safe and secure operating environment.
  • Plans and utilizes resources to meet operational and departmental goals and objectives for assigned shift.
  • Ensures that procedures outlined in the General Maintenance Manual are followed and executed, and complete and accurate records are maintained.
  • Mentors direct reports and ensures all team members are adequately trained and maintain proficiency and currency as required for assigned shift.
  • Oversees training in the use of all equipment and procedures necessary to maintain operational demands.
  • Provides direction to Crew Chiefs on maintenance scheduling and personnel issues.
  • Ensures efficient scheduling of personnel and use of assigned resources to provide maximum, effective productivity, to include availability and serviceability of required tooling and equipment.
  • Facilitates and coordinates maintenance operations including quality control and assurance inspection, avionics, training, stores activities, and aircraft cleaning.
  • Ensures that assigned maintenance facilities are operated in compliance with FAA, OSHA, TSA and EPA regulations and Company policies and procedures.
  • Complies with the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Prepares various maintenance reports, summaries of performance metrics, and monthly variance reports.
  • May be called in on irregular operations; must be available 24/7 including nights and weekends
  • Occasional travel

Required Competencies:

  • High level of judgment to ensure compliance with appropriate regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to handle confidential information.
  • Ability to communicate fluently in English.

Education & Experience:

Required:

  • Associate’s degree in Aviation Maintenance, Engineering or equivalent
  • 2-4 years’ supervisory experience in a union environment in FAR Part 121 Air Carrier operations
  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant license
